At the Sgt Byron W Norwood Detachment 1022, we believe service doesn’t end when the uniform comes off—it evolves. Our initiatives are designed to empower youth, support veterans, and strengthen the communities of Williamson County, Texas.

👨‍🏫 Youth Empowerment & Leadership

Young Marines Program

We sponsor the Young Marines, a national youth program for boys and girls ages 8 through high school. It focuses on:

  • Leadership development

  • Citizenship through community service

  • Living a healthy, drug-free lifestyle

  • Building self-discipline and confidence

This is a hands-on, boots-on-the-ground experience that prepares youth to lead with integrity.

JROTC Achievement Awards

Each spring, we recognize outstanding cadets from local high school JROTC programs, including:

  • Georgetown HS, East View HS, Hendrickson HS, Hutto HS, McNeil HS, Round Rock HS, Stony Point HS, Vista Ridge HS, and Westwood HS

These awards celebrate discipline, leadership, and academic excellence.

Eagle Scout Good Citizenship Award

We proudly honor new Eagle Scouts with the Marine Corps League’s Good Citizenship Award, recognizing their commitment to service, leadership, and community values.

🎖️ Veteran & Family Support

Sgt Byron W Norwood Semper Fi 5K Walk / Run

This annual event brings together Marines, FMF Corpsmen, and supporters for a community walk / run. Proceeds fund our programs supporting:

  • Veterans and military families

  • Youth development

  • Local outreach efforts

Marine Corps Birthday Ball

Each November, we host a formal celebration of the Marine Corps’ founding. It’s a night of tradition, remembrance, and pride—open to all who support our mission.

Brown Santa Program

We partner with the Williamson County Sheriff's Office to support underprivileged children during the holidays by distributing toys, books, and stuffed animals.

Williamson County High School JROTC Unit Achievement Programs

Each spring semester, Detachment 1022 participates in annual awards ceremonies at area high schools, including: East View HS, Georgetown HS, Hendrickson HS, Hutto HS, McNeil HS, Round Rock HS, Stony Point HS, Vista Ridge HS, and Westwood HS.

Eagle Scout “Good Citizenship Award”

The Marine Corps League considers it an honor and privilege to recognize America's future leaders for earning the Scouts of America Eagle Scout Award by presenting them the Marine Corps League's "Good Citizenship Award" Certificate. The skills an Eagle Scout has mastered are held in very high regards by the Marine Corps League and corporations throughout the United States.

Annual Marine Corps Birthday Ball

Each year, the Marine Corps League Sgt. Byron W. Norwood Detachment 1022 hosts a memorable night to remember as we celebrate our Marine Corps’ birthday.

 

Sgt Byron W Norwood Semper Fi 5k Walk / Run

You’ll definitely want to lace up your boots or go-fasts and join your fellow Marines and Devil Docs for the Sgt Byron W Norwood Semper Fi 5k Walk / Run. All proceeds help fund the programs and services of our Detachment in support of our veterans and military families, our youth, and our communities.

 

Williamson County Brown Santa

The Marine Corps League Sgt. Byron W. Norwood Detachment 1022 is proud to support the Williamson County Sheriff's Brown Santa program, which supports underprivileged children through a general distribution of toys, books, and a stuffed animals for Christmas.
